Build and develop operations organization, processes and procedures to support strategic direction. Establish operations initiatives for improvement in safety, delivery, quality, cost, and employee relations. Essential Functions Establishes operations standards for safety, on-time delivery, quality, cost control, and waste reduction. Oversees Safety and Environmental Departments, attend Joint Safety Committee Meetings, Occasional support at Sub-Team Meetings, and assist any coordination between Safety, Environmental, and Operations. Establishes manufacturing policies in Lean Manufacturing techniques, material usage, shipping and receiving, capacity planning, production scheduling, safety, customer satisfaction, employee relations and performance measures. Directs implementation and execution of manufacturing policies and continuous improvement practices throughout organization. Oversees the implementation of manufacturing schedules, manpower and facilities requirements, quality control, production, production control standards, and safety programs. Recommends and implements strategic changes in manufacturing and operations strategy to meet the strategic objectives of TIMET. Insures prompt and economical receipt of needed materials and supplies to ensure on time delivery of finished products to customers. Builds, develops, and manages manufacturing leadership team capable of carrying out needed manufacturing strategies and improving employee relations. Provides leadership for problem resolution to facilitate faster improvements and improved working relationships. Directs and oversees the operations budget to ensure compliance with organizational expenditure requirements. On Time Delivery Focus Maintain focus on delivering product on-time. Lead Operations Managers through daily/weekly process at Production Planning/Control weekly meetings. Drive all to be on time at respective stages for each product. Facilitate recovery plans for OTD where/when needed. Attend daily production meetings (Forge, Sheet and Plate, Coil) as appropriate to maintain a solid understanding of issues. Maintain production throughput necessary to be on the cumulative QTD lines at all times. Lead daily line walks and utilize to drive the same points home that are being discussed in daily production meetings - the idea is to push the issues / problems / solutions / recoveries to the shop floor through the daily line walks. Drive each production area to achieve their ESH targets, Productivity targets, and VC/ESH targets. When necessary to develop a recovery plan (after 3 consecutive days off the line), lead/facilitate the effort and achieve full recovery as quickly as possible, this may include an overtime increase, schedule changes, and/or offloading to a subcontractor. The costs associated with any recovery must be discussed with GM and Plant Controller. Attend weekly Production/Maintenance Planning meetings and assure that any equipment outage plans, or basic scheduled maintenance, is done with full understanding of the cost impact to the respective area. Develop maintenance communication board and metrics, which drive the maintenance department to improve their workforce efficiency. Qualifications Competencies A demonstrated ability to lead people and get results through others. An ability to think ahead and plan ahead over a 1-2 year time span. Technical skills in Lean Manufacturing techniques, Six Sigma, Kaizen, Process Improvement, freight and distribution, and production scheduling. 7-10 years plant management experience in the metals industry within a union environment Travel maybe required Strong interpersonal skills with ability to thrive in a team environment. Strong systems skills - SAP background/expertise a plus. Microsoft Suite software experience. Must be able to prioritize multiple requests/projects Special Skills Extensive knowledge and training in product manufacturing Possess ability to provide leadership, communication, organizational, analytical & problem solving. Salary Range:
$200K -- $250K
